A sensory experience in the heart of your home

KUALIA.design

Qualia is a philosophical concept derived from the Latin “qualis”, which means “ as it is ” and which designates the subjective experiential contents of mental experience.

The word qualia describes the subjective feeling of a space or environment and how we experience the world around us, expresses the subjective qualities of the conscious experience, describes the individual and private sensations , perceptions and subjective experiences of each individual such as colors, smells, tastes and sensations.

If we apply this concept to interior design or kitchen design, we can consider how the sensory and aesthetic qualities of a space can affect our experience and perception of it.

So we have merged the word Qualia with the  K for Kitchen.

K + QUALIA = KUALIA

At KUALIA.design we apply this concept to a kitchen design or an interior space and there are key elements that we take into account in all our projects:

  • Colors and textures:  The choice of colors and textures in kitchen design can influence our sensory experiences. For example, warm tones and soft materials can create a cozy and comforting feeling, while bright colors and smooth surfaces can evoke a sense of modernity and energy.

  • Lighting: Proper lighting in the kitchen can create a specific atmosphere and affect our mood. Plenty of natural light can make a kitchen feel more open and vibrant, while soft, ambient lighting can create a more relaxing and inviting atmosphere.

  • Aromas and Flavors: While kitchen or space design cannot directly control aromas and flavors, it can influence how they are perceived. A well-ventilated kitchen designed with proper odor extraction systems can help keep the aromas pleasant and fresh. In addition, a design that makes it easy to organize and access ingredients and accessories can foster a more enjoyable cooking experience.

  • Ergonomics and Functionality: Kitchen design can also influence our experience through functionality and ergonomics. A smart layout of appliances, utensils, and work areas can make food preparation easier and improve efficiency in the kitchen. This in turn can influence our satisfaction and enjoyment when cooking.

  • Social Experience: The kitchen is a social meeting place, where we share meals and special moments with our loved ones. A design that encourages interaction, such as a kitchen island or breakfast bar, can enhance the socializing experience and create meaningful memories in that space.

In short, interior design can influence our subjective experience by considering aspects such as colors, textures, lighting, scents, functionality, and the social experience. By creating a kitchen that takes these sensory and aesthetic qualities into account, we can contribute to a more enriching and satisfying experience in the culinary space.

Together we create unique spaces. KUALIA.design, your interior design ally.
